jumping and platform game (side view -  like mario)   the character had a boomerang and he could buy items (and as I remember - other  weapons) from stores. 
as I recall  - there were stores that he could gamble by the coins that he collected during the game (but I"m not sure about that).

the title of the game was in Japanese and its defiantly NOT Zelda as its with a side view and you don't see the character from above.
