I've sent you a PM regarding this Roy, I think this would accelerate interest in terms of the arcade portion of MemoRift.

All I do is make sure there is no conflicting faces when exporting them from Sketchup to Unity. When in unity I make sure that the cabinet is the correct brightness, as the colours are washed out when converted. It takes about 10 minutes to convert each model. I've completed around 80 models so far and I'm building a new arcade layout also, hopefully with better lighting. I'll post a link on here when completed.

I'll need to come up with a simple way to have MemoRift understand where in the model the screen should be placed, possible a named placeholder mesh inside the model that would get replaced with the screen component at the exact same position, rotation and scale.

Also importing into Sketchup is easier, as you wil not need a plugin to do so and you can use the free version of Sketchup to export DAE. The screens of the models seem to already have a mesh as you may know, so maybe it will not be so difficult to make a placeholder out of it.

Now that I'm exporting from Sketchup to Unity using COLLADA format, I've just realised that all parts of the model can be manipulated within Unity. For example you can rotate/scale/remove the control panel/bezel/sides/coin door etc, and most importantly the cabinet monitor itself. Meaning you can acquire the exact measurements and also remove and replace (maybe) with some sort of place holder, as each part of the model has it's own ID/instance.

MemoRift is an Oculus Rift project in development that aims to recreate a virtual room from the 80s-90s complete with an old PC, some 8 and 16 bit game consoles, game magazines, arcade cabinets, and old cartoons, the idea is to build a framework which can be used by anyone to easily create their own room based on their own memories and interests.
